Striim debuts Striim Cloud, a real-time data streaming-as-a-service offering

Data integration startup Striim Inc. is expanding its real-time data capabilities with the launch of its new Striim Cloud, a software-as-a-service based offering that’s aiming to power more informed decision-making based on the most up-to-date information.

Available now, Striim Cloud is said to deliver real-time, autonomous data pipelines to almost any kind of application. It means companies will be able to perform continuous queries, enrichment and analytics on their live streaming data, rather than waiting until it lands in a target database or data warehouse as before. That will enable them to build applications directly on the data pipeline and expand their data capabilities without affecting performance, Striim claimed.

Striim’s data integration software is designed to ease the difficulty of moving data between different information technology environments. Normally, to export large volumes of records from a complex application such as a database, companies must make extensive changes to its configuration.

Another technical challenge arises in situations when a company plans to continue using an application after migrating its data to a new environment. In such cases, it’s not enough to migrate the data once: Any new information that is added over time to the original application also has to be brought over. Striim’s platform can synchronize data changes between systems automatically and, if there’s an outage, pause the process in a way that avoids errors and duplicate entries.

Striim says there’s a lot of demand for this kind of service today in an age where industries such as retail, manufacturing, logistics and healthcare have been forced to become more responsive and reliable. With real-time data, businesses in those and other industries can use analytics to better asses customer demand and cost-to-service, then make more informed decisions.

The key advantage of Striim Cloud is that it means multiple applications across an organization can all know exactly what’s happening now across the business. That includes having access to up-to-date information on customer behavior, marketing campaigns and supply chain operations. Data can be analyzed as it appears with platforms such as Snowflake, Google Big Query and Azure Synapse Analytics.

At the same time, companies gain the freedom to add new data pipelines or modify existing ones to bring in yet more information, with Striim doing all the heavy lifting under the hood. It means new applications can be built directly on real-time data, Striim said.

Striim founder and Chief Executive Ali Kutay believes getting a grip on large-scale streaming data for real-time decision making is a challenge for any enterprise. “These challenges are driving digital transformation,” he said. “Striim Cloud is a powerful, cloud-based, SaaS platform that gives enterprises worldwide an invaluable advantage in reaching this goal.”
