CrowdStrike stirs the evolution of heightened cloud security with help from partners

Security is no longer an afterthought in the enterprise world, because it continues to be heavily embedded in the bloodstream.

While CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. is known for innovating the endpoint security market, it is focusing on its partnerships to help propel cloud security, according to Amanda Adams (pictured), vice president of Americas Alliances at CrowdStrike, who said building a better story together with its partners has been more fulfilling.

“We started with, I think, two products at that time; we were focused on reinventing how our customers thought about next-gen AV but also endpoint detection and response,” Adams said. “If you think about cloud, our partners play a critical role when it comes into the cloud migration, deployment integration services. We’re not going to get bigger from a services organization, and that’s where we need our partners to step in.”

Adams spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Dave Vellante and David Nicholson at theCUBE @ Fal.Con 2022, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how CrowdStrike is revamping the security scene and what it takes to be a woman in the tech world. (* Disclosure below.)

The critical role of developers in the security space

Developers play a fundamental role in the security ecosystem. As a result, they will continue shaping the future in this space, according to Adams.

“I think that as our partner program evolves … working with them to build our new codes, the integration, that’s going to be pretty important,” she said.

By being customer-centric, Adams believes CrowdStrike takes the cybersecurity arena a notch higher. Furthermore, integrations come in handy, she added.

“We do endpoint really well; our services are one of the best in the business,” Adams stated. “When you look at instant response, our proactive services, supporting our customers — if you think XDR of integration, building out those connector packs with our customers, building the alliances, we really do work with our partners to drive that successful outcome with our customers.”

From a skillset standpoint, CrowdStrike looks beyond the technology provided by its platform. As a result, it has tech alliance partners like the CrowdXDR Alliance, according to Adams.

“So from a skill set standpoint, if I’m a partner and engaging with CrowdStrike and our customers, we have eight routes to market,” she explained. “So while that may sound complicated, the way that I like to think about it is that we truly flex to our partners, go to market their business models of what works best for their organization, but also their customers.”

On the topic of women in tech, Adams believes she defied the odds when entering the tech world. She credits her connections and building partnerships as playing an instrumental role.

“You know, I have been incredibly fortunate to have connections … to a certain extent, you have to be smart to make it long term,” she pointed out. “I first started at Cisco and I had a connection of actually a parent of somebody I grew up with. And they’re like, you would fit in very nicely at Cisco. And I started with their channel marketing team, learned a ton about the business, how to structure, how to support. And that was the first step into technology.”
