EvolveWare adds Agile Business Rules Extraction to its software modernization platform

Software application maintenance and modernization company EvolveWare Inc. has today announced a new Agile solution for its Intellisys platform.

EvolveWare Agile Business Rules Extraction uses intelligent automation to allow organizations to update business policies and modernize applications concurrently without having to freeze code during the process. The service allows enterprises and government agencies to make changes to existing code at any point in the rules extraction process with minimal impact on work already performed.

According to the company, BRE enables organizations to accelerate modernization projects with time savings of 60% or more compared with a manual approach. It also powers larger digital transformation initiatives by facilitating the update and modernization of applications at the same time, EvolveWare says.

Available on EvolveWare’s Intellisys platform, Agile BRE can continuously modernize applications without the risk of losing critical information and updates while modernizing them. The capability is a first for the platform, which also offers a phased approach, flexible processes and multiple pathways to application modernization.

The enhanced Intellisys platform with Agile BRE enables code updates to be transferred automatically into the extracted business rules repository without affecting the rules that are not impacted by the updates. For rules affected by the updates, a report is generated highlighting the changes.

Using Agile BRE, teams can run BRE on multiple applications simultaneously, generating single or multiple repositories of documentation including diagrams, reports, logic, database details and critical dependencies. Time savings are delivered through the automation of the extraction of foundational knowledge from code using machine-learning techniques and by automating the consolidation of extracted logic into rules.

EvolveWare Intellisys with Agile BRE supports more than 20 languages, both legacy and modern. The service mitigates risk by keeping track of all the activities performed and allowing consolidation and optimization actions to be reverted to their original state.

Other features include application understanding for technical and nontechnical people by presenting logic in multiple formats, including pseudocode, flowcharts, decision tables and business analyst language. The service also simplifies moving extracted rules to third-party platforms such as DROOLs by automating the transfer process.

“With the introduction of Agile BRE, we are empowering organizations with a holistic view of their software application portfolio and the ability to utilize a scientific approach to optimization and modernization,” Miten Marfatia, founder and chief executive officer of EvolveWare, said in a statement.
