Cloud identity and access startup Rezonate launches with $8.7M in funding

Cloud identity and access startup Rezonate Inc. today launched out of stealth mode with $8.7 million in funding to accelerate go-to-market efforts.

State of Mind Ventures and Flybridge led the round, with toDay Ventures, Merlin Ventures and several individual investors also participating.

The company was founded in January this year by Chief Executive Officer Roy Akerman, former head of Israeli Cyber Defense Operations, and Chief Technology Officer Ori Amiga, who led engineering teams for the Israeli government. Rezonate is creating what is claimed to be the industry’s first “Cloud Identity Protection Platform,” a service that offers a unified view across identity and cloud infrastructure providers.

Rezonate references a Gartner study that by 2023, 75% of security failures will result from inadequate management of identities, access and privileges. The percentage is said to underscore that identity is shifting from simply being the new perimeter to identity and access becoming the most critical control for cloud defense.

“The rapidly changing cloudscape, together with the proliferation of human and machine identities, requires a different approach,” Akerman explains. “Modern infrastructures require a precise and nimble way to outsmart attackers. One that primes cloud identities and access at its core and is constantly adapting to current dynamics over yesterday’s snapshots and, for the first time, gives defenders and builders the means to act confidently.”

The Rezonate Cloud Identity Protection Platform is purpose-built to eliminate identity and access-based risks, including critical security gaps, abnormal access attempts and active threats. CIPP provides real-time and adaptive security architecture against existing and future threats.

CIPP is powered by the Identity Storyline, a capability that the company claims delivers security and DevOps teams situational understanding of every risk from every access across the entire cloud identity fabric, including every user and resource. Data is continually synthesized, presenting the exact context required to accelerate the prioritization of critical exposures to limit the impact of active threats and enable response directly from within the tool before any damage occurs.

Rezonate validates that there are no more blind spots, malicious access exploitation and lengthy remediation cycles. CIPP visualizes an end-to-end attack chain for every real-time anomalous activity detected, linking its root exposure to the attacker’s actions and providing an actionable, automated and tailored response action, according to the company.
