Cribl’s HPE integration enables differentiation in saturated observability product niche

Today’s enterprise infrastructures are overflowing with all kinds of data intended for vastly different purposes, leading to the demand for, and subsequent ubiquity of, observability solutions.

To stand out, Cribl Inc. is driving new value channels through savvy strategy decisions and platform partnerships.

“The ecosystem that we see here is a lot of people sticking to effectively getting data and showing you dashboard reports about monitoring and things of that sort,” said Kam Amir (pictured), director of technical alliances at Cribl. “For us, the value is how can we help customers accelerate their adoption of these platforms, how to go from your legacy SIM or your legacy monitoring solution to like the next-gen observability or security platform.”

Amir spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Dave Vellante and John Furrier at last year’s HPE Discover, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Cribl’s features, integrations and toolings from a value-addition standpoint. (* Disclosure below.)

Giving customers much-needed choice and repeatability

Wasting no time, Cribl has already implemented its integrations into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.’s sought-after data fabric.

“We sell choice,” Amir explained. “We give them the ability to choose where they want to send their data, whether that’s HPE’s data lake and data fabric or some other object store or some other destination. They have that choice to do so.”

The cloud-to-edge momentum at HPE is notably streaming-intensive, raising the issue of egress costs on the end-customer side. Cribl Edge is the company’s answer to this pain point.

“[We have the capability] to collect data from the edge and then transit it out to either an on-prem, or self-hosted deployment of Cribl, or maybe some sort of other destination object store,” Amir stated. “What we do is we actually take the data in transit and reduce the volume of events … and compress or optimize that data so that the egress costs to your point are actually lowered.”
