New Huntress solution offers managed detection and response for Microsoft 365

Managed cybersecurity platform startup Huntress Labs Inc. today announced a new managed detection and response solution for Microsoft 365 that detects and responds to suspicious user activity, permission changes, anomalous access behavior and deviations from security best practices.

Huntress MDR protection for Microsoft 365 includes constant monitoring by the Huntress security operations center with the ability to remediate compromised accounts, often with a single click. Key features of the service include active monitoring of Microsoft 365 Active Directory logins, configuration and email rules, as well as detection of indicators that identities have been compromised and instant lockdown capabilities.

The company notes that with an estimated 345 million users, particularly across small to medium enterprises, Microsoft 365 is becoming more actively targeted. A recent survey of midsized businesses found that 61% reported having no dedicated in-house cybersecurity expertise. That’s where Huntress steps in to address the critical cybersecurity resource gap.

“With modern, cloud-based infrastructure, even a single stolen credential or compromised account can be used to launch an attack,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Kyle Hanslovan. “The feedback we’ve gotten from partners and customers to date demonstrates how we add value doing what we do best, closing the resource and technology gaps faced by SMBs from these threats.”

The Huntress MDR solution for Microsoft 365 is available now to pre-enrolled customers, with general availability planned for later this quarter.

Huntress was most recently in the news in September when it raised $40 million in debt financing from Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Innovation Banking Inc. to pursue merger and acquisition opportunities, research, product development and expansion into international markets. Investors in the company include JMI Equity Partners Inc., Forgepoint Capital Management L.P., SaaS Ventures Management LLC, StoneMill Ventures LLC, Blue Venture Investors LLC and Gula Tech Adventures LLC.
