Digital.ai launches new platform release to streamline enterprise software projects
Digital.ai Software Inc. today updated its application development platform with new features designed to make programmers more productive.
Raleigh, North Carolina-based Digital.ai was formed in 2020 through the merger of five enterprise software companies. Private equity firm TPG Capital, which carried out the transaction, invested $1 billion in the venture. The company says its customer base includes more than half the Fortune 500.
Digital.ai’s namesake platform provides tools that can be used to manage multiple aspects of a software project. The platform allows developers to equip an application with cybersecurity features and test it for bugs. Additionally, it provides tools that ease the task of rolling out software updates to production.
The new version of the platform that launched today is known as the Corbett release. It adds more cybersecurity and software testing capabilities, as well as a set of analytics dashboards.
“The release of Corbett underscores our commitment to provide an open DevOps platform built for the enterprise and to deliver targeted solutions that support the complexity and scale of the world’s largest organizations,” said Digital.ai Chief Executive Officer Derek Holt.
As part of its feature set, Digital.ai offers tools that can be used to shield mobile apps against hacking attempts. The company today added another breach prevention tool powered by an open-source technology called OPA. It allows developers to define a set of cybersecurity requirements that new software should meet and automatically check their mobile apps against those requirements.
According to Digital.ai, the new Corbett release also includes an improved jailbreaking detection mechanism. Jailbreaking is the practice of changing parts of a handset’s operating system that are usually inaccessible. Such modifications, which are often made to extend a device’s default feature set, can make handsets more susceptible to hacking.
Digital.ai is also expanding its platform’s built-in software testing tools. The platform allows developers to create automated workflows that test their code for bugs without manual input. Software teams can now store such automated workflows in a centralized repository for easy access.
Alongside its software development features, Digital.ai’s platform offers a built-in project management tool. The tool allows teams to plan what new features should be developed next and how. It also promises to ease a number of related tasks.
Today’s update adds a dashboard that managers can use to track the progress of a feature development initiative, as well as compare it with past projects. Another newly added dashboard highlights areas for improvement in developers’ code. It can identify potential risks that affect dependencies, the external software modules that an application relies on to work.
