GTM Buddy debuts generative AI sales enablement tool

GTM Buddy Inc., a startup that provides software for sales enablement teams, today announced a new generative artificial intelligence tool called Ask Buddy.

The tool is based on OpenAI LLP’s large language models. According to GTM Buddy, it’s designed to help salespeople close more deals. GTM is generally short for “go to market.”

Durham, North Carolina-based GTM Buddy launched in 2020 and closed a $2 million seed round the following year. It provides a cloud platform geared toward sales enablement teams. Those are teams responsible for finding ways to make a company’s salespeople more productive.

According to GTM Buddy, its platform can be used to store and distribute best practices on how to pitch potential customers. Additionally, the platform lends itself to storing sales collateral such as product brochures. GTM Buddy also provides related features that help sales enablement teams more efficiently manage the content they produce.

Ask Buddy, the generative AI tool the startup debuted today, adds another set of capabilities to the platform.

Salespeople can use the tool to automatically write emails to potential buyers. According to GTM Buddy, its AI features ease the task of generating follow-up emails after a sales presentation. Moreover, Ask Buddy is capable of addressing concerns that a potential customer may raise about a product during the buying process.

GTM Buddy says that the tool generates emails by analyzing the key details of each deal. Additionally, the underlying language models consult a company’s internal sales materials.

Ask Buddy also uses the data it analyzes for other tasks. According to GTM Buddy, the tool can analyze an ongoing sales negotiation and recommend the optimal next step.

The tool could, for example, point out the specific brochure that a salesperson should share with a prospect to increase the chance of a purchase. Ask Buddy can likewise recommend relevant case studies. Furthermore, it’s capable of generating marketing content for situations where a potential buyer is also evaluating a product from a competitor.

Another set of new features included in Ask Buddy is geared towards sales enablement teams. The features are designed to help such teams make their company’s internal sales content more easily accessible for employees.

Enterprises often have internal documents that detail best practices on how to pitch each product. They also store other sales-related information, such as key highlights from past client negotiations. Such content can theoretically make salespeople more productive, but in practice, it’s not always used.

Ask Buddy promises to address that challenge. It allows sales enablement teams to automatically turn their company’s sales content into coaching notes, FAQ articles and other concise documents that are more likely to be read.

“Over 60% of enablement content is rarely used by reps because sellers don’t have time to review all sales collateral,” said GTM Buddy co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Sreedhar Peddineni. “Ask Buddy opens up a wealth of knowledge to help build buyer trust and provide reps with the information they need to close deals.”

GTM Buddy says that customers can interact with Ask Buddy through a chat interface. The interface makes it possible to not only generate content, but also refine the AI’s initial output using natural language prompts.
