Empowering developers with Google’s Vertex AI: A new frontier in conversational AI

In today’s evolving landscape of technology and human interaction, Google LLC has made significant advancements in the field of artificial intelligence.

At the core of these developments is Vertex AI, a collection of innovative tools created to give developers more control and reshape interactions with machines.

“With our [Google Analytics] today, we’ve really enabled enterprise developers to build applications quickly and easily,” said Lisa O’Malley (pictured), senior director of product management for AI industry solutions at Google. “They don’t need to chunk the data, they don’t need to worry about indices, they don’t need to about worry about getting the data in. It’s all there already and the tools are ready to go.”

O’Malley spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Rob Strechay at the Google Cloud Next event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Vertex AI and its potential to revolutionize the conversational AI landscape. (* Disclosure below.)

Meeting developers where they are

One of the key objectives of Vertex AI is to make AI accessible to a diverse range of developers, from machine learning experts to novices. This emphasis on inclusivity is a cornerstone of Google’s approach, allowing developers with varying degrees of expertise to harness the power of AI, according to O’Malley.

Vertex AI introduces two pivotal components: Vertex AI Search and Conversation. Formerly known as Gen App Builder, these tools empower developers to integrate the prowess of Google Search and create dynamic chatbots and voice bots.

“We want to be able to meet developers where they are. They can be machine learning experts or they can be novices,” O’Malley said. “We have a suite of tools within Vertex that enables all of them … what they do is they bring the power of Google search and the ability to create chatbots and voice bots into the hands of developers.”

The future of Vertex AI: Collaboration and open innovation

Looking ahead, O’Malley shed light on the future direction of Vertex AI. Collaboration emerged as a central theme, with Google’s recognition of the collaborative nature of AI innovation mirroring the broader trend in the industry.

As the cloud computing landscape continues to evolve, Google’s Vertex AI shows the company’s commitment to democratizing AI technology. By providing a suite of tools that cater to diverse skill levels, prioritizing data security and privacy and fostering collaboration, Google is helping to shape the future of conversational AI, according to O’Malley.

“Things are changing all the time. Every time we talk to customers, we learn something new,” she said. “And that’s multiple times, multiple days a week. And even just the ability to synthesize all of the incoming information and what’s coming from our strong technology and research teams and put it into a format that makes sense to customers has been an amazing opportunity.”
