Red Hat and Google Cloud deepen collaboration on OpenShift, Ansible and Data Science solutions
Red Hat Inc. was names Google LLC’s “Partner of the Year for Infrastructure” during the 2023 Google Cloud Partner Summit. The award recognizes the two companies’ close collaboration in developing and delivering open-source solutions that help organizations build and run hybrid and multicloud applications.
Red Hat and Google Cloud have a long history of working together to provide the enterprise with the best possible experience, according to Blake Shiver (pictured, right), vice president for global cloud partners at Red Hat. Recently, the companies have focused on developing solutions that leverage open-source technologies to accelerate innovation and reduce costs.
“We’ve been working so hard just to bring this partnership to the next level for our customers,” Shiver said. “We’ve really put the customer experience at the center of this. If we have a really good customer experience when you’re procuring whatever software you need to run your cloud vision and your cloud mission on, [then] we’re creating value for our customers and for their customers.”
Shiver and Clive D’Souza (left), head of partner engineering at Google, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Rob Strechay at the Google Cloud Next event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed joint solutions from the two companies, addressing several enterprise cloud needs. (* Disclosure below.)
Strong partnership to accelerate digital transformation
While the award mentioned above focuses on the a broader scope around infrastructure, its particulars highlight and recognize Red Hat’s contributions to a number of joint solutions, including Red Hat OpenShift on Google Cloud, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on Google Cloud and Red Hat OpenShift Data Science.
“One of the things which we appreciate about how Red Hat is moving, when you look at how they’re embracing generative AI — and if you look at Ansible and the adapters and plugins they’re putting in — at the end of the day, what really matters to developers is developer productivity … and the way you can integrate more and more of the technology and make the productivity better,” D’Souza said.
The solutions address a wide range of customer needs, from hybrid cloud deployments to artificial intelligence and machine learning. Red Hat OpenShift on Google Cloud provides a consistent platform for deploying and managing applications across on-premises and cloud environments. Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on Google Cloud automates the deployment and management of infrastructure and applications. And Red Hat OpenShift Data Science makes it easy to build, deploy and manage AI and machine learning models, according to D’Souza noted.
“When you look at Vertex AI and the Vertex extensions we announced today, it’s not only what Google has brought to bear in the market, that’s the first party,” D’Souza said. “[They’re] inclusive, open-source and third-party offerings. In many ways, we are also handling that, making sure the data is secure, the environment is compliant and you adhere to the governance in these practices.”
The joint initiative is a testament to the shared long-term aspirations of both companies. They’re committed to working together to deliver innovative solutions that help customers accelerate their digital transformation, Shiver added.
