True Anomaly raises $100M for enhanced space security solutions

Space security company True Anomaly Inc. announced today that it has raised $100 million in new funding.

Founded in early 2022 by former military operators and engineers, True Anomaly is focused on building solutions that address space domain awareness, security and readiness challenges. Its platform offers seamless satellite, navigation and data-capture technologies designed to provide security and training for the rapidly evolving space market.

The company seeks to address the issue where today’s space systems are often outdated and highly vulnerable to physical and cyberthreats. With the cost of entering space rapidly declining and space technology rapidly evolving, the company claims, space security threats are rising exponentially.

True Anomaly’s platform differs from other solutions by including a differentiating combination of dynamic software applications, on-orbit spacecraft performing rendezvous, proximity operations and non-Earth imaging. Its products and services also offer solutions for space operator training, capabilities testing and rapid response missions.

In its first year in operation, True Anomaly has opened its GravityWorks spacecraft manufacturing in Texas and has doubled its headcount to 100 people. The company has also recently completed the building, assembly and integration of its first two Jackal autonomous orbital vehicles, which are scheduled to launch aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-10 mission in 2024.

“A responsive and agile defense industrial base is essential to provide the tools for deterrence and global security,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Even Rogers. “Space is the newest and most vulnerable theater of contemporary global competition, but the U.S. and its allies are ill-equipped for a conflict that begins in or extends into space. True Anomaly is solving this by building the technologies for a more secure, stable, sustainable and transparent space environment.”

Riot Ventures Management LLC led the Series B round, with Eclipse Ventures LLC, ACME Capital Parnters LLC, Menlo Ventures Management Company LP, Narya Capital LLC, 645 Ventures Management LLC, Rocketship.vc Management LLC, Champion Hill Ventures Management LLC and FiveNine Ventures LLC also participating. Including the new funding, True Anomaly has raised about $130 million to date, including $30 million in funding announced in April.
