AI adoption and automation: Tanium’s strategies for organizational resilience

AI adoption challenges are at the forefront of business operations, as highlighted in Asana’s “State of the IT Leader” report.

Echoing this sentiment at the RSA Conference, Melissa Bischoping (pictured), director of endpoint security research at Tanium Inc., stressed the importance of understanding and trusting emerging technologies before fully committing, particularly regarding security and AI.

Tanium’s Melissa Bischoping talks to theCUBE about AI adoption challenges.

“You don’t immediately go get a mortgage and a marriage certificate the first time you meet someone. You go out for coffee, meet somewhere public and maybe, after you’ve gotten to know them, you go away for a weekend together to see how it’s working for you,” Bischoping said. “And I think that we’re going to see that with any emerging technology that’s really disruptive and really changing the industry.”

Bischoping spoke with theCUBE Research’s Shelly Kramer at the RSA Conference, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed AI adoption challenges, and how organizations should be cautious about quickly adopting AI and should take the time to understand and trust emerging technologies. Automation to help in AI adoption challenges

Tanium is introducing new technology to improve organization resiliency and working with customers to introduce automation into IT and security workflows, including the creation of low code or no code playbooks with Tanium Automate, Bischoping explained.

“We have always said that our speed and scale of our solution is one of our huge differentiators in the market, but speed and scale still benefits from automation of those workflows,” she said. “We are looking at things like autonomous endpoint management, AEM, and the first step towards that is Tanium Automate, which is going to be out later this summer.”

Software providers can use automation to educate users on the capabilities of their tools and help them build cyber skills to advance their careers. Junior analysts can benefit from building low or no code playbooks to automate tasks, freeing up time to tackle more challenging problems, according to Bischoping.

“I’m a huge fan of the idea that we need to automate the boring stuff. Your talent is expensive. Headcount is really expensive, and everyone’s trying to do more with less,” she said. “By using the power of automation, especially automation that you’ve learned to trust and that you’ve learned to build upon, what you can do is force multiply the staff that you have, freeing their time up to tackle the really hard, in-depth challenges.”
