Nick Schneider, president and chief executive officer of Arctic Wolf Networks Inc., talks to theCUBE during CUBEConversations 2024 about why eradicating cyber risks should be top of mind for enterprises and how Arctic Wolf fits into the picture. SECURITY

Arctic Wolf harnesses AI and human expertise to eradicate cyber risks in a complex digital landscape

By proactively tackling cyber risks, organizations can mitigate potential damage, reduce costs and maintain trust in an increasingly digital world.

As one of the growing number of firms pursuing a modern approach to cybersecurity operations, Arctic Wolf Networks Inc. leverages cloud-native technology, human expertise and products, such as the Concierge Delivery Model, for enhanced personalized and proactive protection, according to Nick Schneider (pictured), president and chief executive officer of Arctic Wolf.

“Ending cyber risk for us is effectively trying to bring a customer’s risk to what their organization would be effectively zero,” Schneider said. “We do that through our detection teams, our labs teams, the AI automation that we’re building, our use of third parties and native technologies to put together and correlate a bunch of different signals into a really intelligent feed to the customer so that they can understand what’s happening within their environment.”

Schneider spoke with theCUBE Research’s Chief Analyst Dave Vellante, during an exclusive interview on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed why eradicating cyber risks should be top of mind for enterprises and how Arctic Wolf plays a role in achieving this goal.

The role of AI in the mitigation of cyber risks

Since tackling cyber risks ensures business continuity, deploying cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, is a major stepping stone. As a result, AI-driven solutions are proving to be game changers, as they help predict potential threats in real time, according to Schneider.

“Cybersecurity is really all about the data,” he said. “Our platform is now processing somewhere near six trillion observations a week. It’s tens of billions of security incidents a week, but a lot of those incidents or investigations can be done through automation or can be done through AI tools. The more important benefit for the customer is that we can provide actionability in a basically real-time manner. Where human intelligence comes into play is taking the insights and helping the customer to understand why it matters to them.”

Making the lives of cybersecurity players easier is top of mind for Artic Wolf. As a result, automation and AI are bridging the gap when it comes to anomaly detection, behavioral analysis, proactive risk assessment and real-time monitoring, according to Schneider.

“The manner in which we deliver our service primarily through the platform and with this final mile with Concierge requires us to be really diligent about the teams that we have in place,” he said. “I think the benefit that we’re getting is that as we add those automations, as we add that AI, we’re actually freeing up time for some of our security practitioners to work with their customers in a meaningful way. I would actually think that over time our customers get more engagement than they would’ve five, six years ago.”

By delving deeper into potential gaps, Arctic Wolf helps mitigate cyber risks by arming defenders with the expertise and tools needed to avert modern attacks. This approach comes in handy, as enterprises have to grapple with complex cybersecurity operations, Schneider pointed out.

“Bad actors have a bunch of new techniques and a bunch of new mechanisms to create harm within an organization’s environment,” he noted. “What we’re seeing is a lot of customers saying, ‘Hey, on one hand we’re seeing the threat landscape at an elevated level, and on the other hand, we’re seeing that we have a lot of complexity in our security operations. How can we work with an organization like Arctic Wolf to help us understand what our security posture really is, and help us to understand how to protect against those threats?’”
