New Relic unveils AI-powered observability solution for streamlined Kubernetes monitoring
Cloud-observability platform provider New Relic Inc. today announced one-step observability for Kubernetes, a new solution to solve the challenges developers face when monitoring dynamic Kubernetes environments.
The new feature automatically instruments application performance management with Kubernetes deployments and, in doing so, eliminates the need for additional configurations. The service also offers artificial intelligence-powered insights, dashboards and views to manage Kubernetes faster, speeding up incident resolution and improving developer productivity. Kubernetes is software used to manage software containers, which house the components of modern applications.
Kubernetes is becoming increasingly popular for its ability to drive innovation and cost efficiency by enabling engineers to spin containers up and down as needed. But New Relic says monitoring the performance of applications deployed on Kubernetes poses significant challenges. To gain observability across applications and Kubernetes clusters, the company believes, developer and platform teams must continuously modify workloads and deploy agents, a cumbersome and time-consuming process that reduces productivity.
The new solution tackles these issues with one-step observability for Kubernetes, so developers can automatically instrument application performance management, APM for short, with Kubernetes while gaining AI-driven insights.
Key features of New Relic’s solution include the ability to streamline collaboration between developers and platform teams by automating APM instrumentation for Kubernetes deployments. The one-step process eliminates the need for code changes, making management and deployment simpler and faster while also reducing manual effort and enhancing productivity across teams.
The platform offers AI-powered insights with out-of-the-box dashboards and alerts to instantly diagnose issues. Through the unification of application and Kubernetes data on a single interface, the solution allows teams to quickly identify and resolve performance problems. The integration accelerates troubleshooting and optimizes system performance.
Additionally, New Relic’s one-step observability for Kubernetes solution offers native support for Prometheus and OpenTelemetry to ensure quick onboarding and automated correlation. The AI-powered features democratize observability by enabling users at any skill level to easily access actionable insights using natural language prompts, an approach that fosters improved visibility and faster decision-making.
“Modern organizations are embracing Kubernetes to drive innovation and cost efficiency, but this has meant tradeoffs when it comes to managing performance,” said Chief Product Officer Manav Khurana. “New Relic is bringing the power of intelligent observability to Kubernetes deployments so that developer and platform teams can resolve issues faster, improve performance and foster better collaboration — all with intelligent insights driven by our AI-strengthened platform.”
New Relic has been wholly owned by private equity firms Francisco Partners Management LP and TPG Inc. following a $6.5 billion acquisition deal in July 2023.
