Edera raises $15M to expand workload isolation technology and AI security

Workload isolation technology startup Edera Inc. announced today that it has raised $15 million in new funding to expand its workload isolation technology, enhance support for artificial intelligence infrastructure security and grow its team to accelerate adoption.

Founded in 2024, Edera specializes in cloud workload isolation technology that enhances infrastructure security. The company focuses on isolating devices into individual cloud spaces, addressing vulnerabilities in shared environments, particularly for AI workloads reliant on GPUs.

Edera’s flagship product, Edera Protect Kubernetes, secures container workloads by eliminating shared kernels, which then prevents lateral movement and potential attack paths. The solution integrates across various infrastructures, including cloud and on-premises environments, without needing specialized hardware or complex configurations.

The company’s technology enables enterprises to consolidate workloads, including those requiring graphics processing units, onto standard cloud instances while maintaining strict isolation. The approach not only enhances security but also reduces cloud computing costs and avoids vendor lock-in.

The Series A funding round was led by M12 Inc., Microsoft’s Venture Fund, with Mantis VC, In-Q-Tel and previous investors Eniac Ventures, 645 Ventures Management, FPV Ventures LP, Precursor Ventures and Rosecliff Ventures also participating.

Alongside the funding, Edera also announced the launch of Edera Protect AI, a secure-by-design solution that automates GPU configuration while securing AI infrastructure. The service automatically configures and isolates GPUs and, in doing so, eliminates costly manual configuration while protecting AI models from compromises that could pose significant risks to both enterprise security and society at large.

The solution reduces cloud computing costs by allowing enterprises to consolidate workloads that traditionally require separate clusters or specialized hardware, including GPU workloads, onto standard cloud instances while maintaining strict isolation. According to Edera, the multi-cloud compatibility further reduces costs by enabling workload portability and eliminating vendor lock-in, while also being more efficient than standard Docker deployments for specific workloads.

“Edera’s technology delivers true workload isolation while maintaining native container-like performance in today’s multi-tenant cloud environments,” said co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Alex Zenla. “We provide platform teams with robust isolation boundaries that enhance security without requiring changes to existing infrastructure or sacrificing the speed and agility that businesses depend on.”
