Autonomous web agents startup Silverstream AI Inc. today launched with an announcement that it has raised $1.2 million in pre-seed funding from Gradient Ventures, Google LLC’s artificial intelligence-focused seed fund to support open-source development and build the infrastructure needed to scale autonomous web agents.
Silverstream seeks to assist developers of autonomous AI web agents who struggle to achieve consistent reliability from the lack of high-quality datasets for training, since comprehensive datasets are key to closing the performance gap.
The company focuses on developing infrastructure and tools to build, scale and monitor autonomous web browsing agents.
Silverstream AI aims for 95% precision, or “Two Sigma accuracy.” SilverStream also advocates for the incremental rollout of agents within controlled environments before broader deployment, and focusing on understanding and mimicking behaviors rather than merely executing tasks.
“Autonomous intelligence is among the most critical technological advancements of this century,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Manuel Del Verme. “It should remain open, just like the pillar technologies it builds upon and the research published by thousands of researchers before us. The road to reliable and trustworthy web agents is long and will require the developer community to come together with a hacker mindset, embracing shared knowledge, transparency and a community-first approach.”
As part of its mission to enable a trustworthy AI agent community, Silverstream AI also announced the upcoming release of Pasta-1T, an open dataset of web trajectories designed for training web agents. The dataset will be freely available to researchers and developers, eliminating one of the biggest barriers to equal access to technology.
Silverstream is aiming to make Pasta-1T a foundational resource for advancing agentic AI technology in a collaborative and open-source-driven way.
“As foundation models gain an interface to the internet and browser-based agents come online, new software tooling will be required,” said Vig Sachidananda, an investor at Gradient. “Silverstream AI is designing and building these solutions, from datasets to evaluation tools for enterprises.”
