DataOps.live Inc. has introduced a new software toolkit that promises to help Snowflake Inc. customers manage their data more efficiently.
The offering, which is known as Dynamic Suite, debuted today.
London-based DataOps.live is backed by more than $27 million in funding. It provides a cloud-based platform that companies use to prepare their business data for processing. DataOps.live can move information to the system where it will be analyzed, remove unnecessary records and perform related tasks.
The new Dynamic Suite toolkit that the company debuted today includes two components on launch. They’re known as Dynamic Delivery and Dynamic Transformation.
A Snowflake environment includes not only data but also other assets. There’s the schema, the file that defines how the data should be organized. Additionally, developers can create views, which hold the processing results of frequently run queries for easy access. The datasets, views and schemas in a Snowflake environment are collectively known as objects.
DataOps.live’s Dynamic Delivery tool promises to ease the management of Snowflake objects. It does so by helping customers implement a CI/CD, or continuous integration and continuous delivery, pipeline. A CI/CD pipeline is an automation workflow that reduces the amount of manual work required to deploy assets such as software updates and datasets.
Dynamic Delivery provides a sandbox for creating new Snowflake objects. An artificial intelligence assistant generates coding suggestions to speed up development. Before deploying a new object to production, the tool runs a series of automated tests to ensure that quality requirements are met.
If the automated tests miss a bug and it’s released into production, developers can use a rollback tool to remove the faulty code. For team leads, in turn, the tool offers a set of governance tools. Those tools can be used to monitor development projects and require that users request approves before deploying new Snowflake objects.
Dynamic Transformation, the other product in the new Dynamic Suite, is based on the open-source dbt tool. The tool automates the task of organizing raw business data into a form that lends itself to analysis. Developers can use dbt to remove errors from a dataset, filter duplicate items and combine the remaining records with external information.
Dynamic Transformation offers similar features as Dynamic Delivery. It allows developers to test their dbt-powered data preparation workflows for bugs, as well use an AI assistant to automate certain coding tasks. A component library allows members of an engineering team to share project assets with one another.
“By further embedding our solutions into Snowflake’s ecosystem, customers gain a seamless, native way to build, deploy, and manage data products with best-in-class automation and governance,” said DataOps.live Chief Executive Officer Nick Halsey.
Dynamic Suite is the fruit of a new multiyear product partnership with Snowflake that the company detailed today. The collaboration will see DataOps.live add more tools to the product suite over time.
