Application performance automation platform provider Cast AI Group Inc. today announced the launch of Database Optimizer, a new approach to caching that improves cloud database performance.
The new offering seeks to address issues with traditional caching solutions that Cast AI argues are difficult to manage and often require extensive manual work and human-driven decision-making on each query. DBO solves these problems with an agent that runs a fully autonomous caching layer as a plug-and-play solution that requires zero application changes or manual tuning.
Notably for DevOps personnel, platform engineers and cloud database administrators, DBO simplifies operations and eliminates wasteful database spending.
Key features of the new service include simplified optimization that provides actionable insights and immediate performance improvements. To set up, the company says, no application changes or manual cache management is needed, making DBO easy to implement across diverse environments.
DBO also delivers a performance boost by detecting and caching repeated data patterns. The result is up to 10 times faster data retrieval, complemented by advanced application responsiveness without increasing infrastructure complexity.
The new offering additionally reduces database load by minimizing redundant queries, removing the need for read replicas and enabling downscaling of database resources. The net result is automation that helps cut operational costs while maintaining high performance.
Among early users, which include Akamai Technologies Inc. and Flowcore Technologies Inc., the DBO offering has been well-received.
“Autonomous caching is one of the most effective ways to optimize read-heavy workloads and Cast AI’s approach is brilliantly executed,” said Dekel Shavit, senior director of cloud engineering at Akamai. “DBO removes the need for manual tuning while delivering real-time performance gains and cost reductions. It’s a strong addition to the Cast AI platform.”
Julius á Rógvi Biskopstø, co-founder and chief technology officer at Flowcore, said that “our services were already pretty fast, but DBO shaved off an additional 100 milliseconds, which makes a noticeable difference.”
Cast AI was previously in the news in April when it raised $108 million in new funding to enhance its Application Performance Automation platform, expand global operations and meet the increasing demand for efficient cloud infrastructure management amid the artificial intelligence boom.
The company has raised $272 million in total over nine rounds. Investors include G2 Venture Partners, SoftBank Vision Fund LP, Aglae Ventures SAS, Creandum AB, Vintage Investment Partners Ltd., Cota Capital Management, Hedosophia Ltd. and Uncorrelated Ventures.
