Bitdefender to acquire Mesh Security to bolster email protection for managed service providers
Cybersecurity company S.C. Bitdefender SRL today announced that it has agreed to acquire Mesh Security Ltd., a provider of advanced email security solutions, for an undisclosed price.
Founded in 2020, Mesh Security specializes in advanced email protection solutions built specifically for managed dervice providers. The company’s platform offers flexible deployment options, including Mesh Gateway for MX-record filtering, Mesh 365 for application programming interface-based inbox protection for Office 365 and Google Workspace, and Mesh Unified, which combines both services for layered defense.
Mesh uses a dual-layered approach to email security that combines perimeter-based protection via a secure email gateway with mailbox-level defense through API-based deployment.
The company’s technology offers protection against a wide range of threats, including phishing, business email compromise, ransomware and impersonation scams. Mesh does so by leveraging machine learning, passive DNS, fuzzy hashing and global threat intelligence to detect subtle attack variants and provide real-time protection.
The platform is designed to make life easier for MSPs by offering centralized multi-tenant management, automated policy enforcement and deep integration with tools like ConnectWise and Kaseya for licensing and billing.
Post, acquisition, Bitdefender plans to incorporate Mesh’s email security capabilities into GravityZone, the company’s unified security, compliance and risk analytics platform. Mesh’s MSP customers are also appealing to Bitdefender, as a cornerstone of Bitdefender’s growth strategy is its global network of more than 41,000 channel and MSP partners. Mesh enhances the value of Bitdefender’s existing cybersecurity stack by offering efficient multi-tenant email security management.

Coming into its acquisition, Mesh Security had raised a single round of $4.5 million from Booster Ventures, according to data from Tracxn.
