Container management platform company Platform9 Systems Inc. today announced a new partnership with data protection provider Commvault Systems Inc. that includes full integration of Commvault with Platform9 Private Cloud Director for advanced data protection.
Platform9’s Private Cloud Director is designed to give enterprises a familiar private cloud experience with the enterprise-grade features they expect, including VM high availability, dynamic resource rebalancing, virtual machine live migration, distributed virtual wwitches and software-defined networking, all on the storage and server infrastructure they already have. The integration with Commvault will allow enterprises to achieve recovery targets and remain protected with an efficient, modern platform from vendors they trust, the companies say.
Commvault’s agentless integration with Private Cloud Director offers application-consistent data integrity and granular file recovery for virtualized workloads, along with protection for container-based applications, within the one unified platform.
The integration of Commvault with Platform9 Private Cloud Director delivers a unified solution for protecting both virtual machines and Kubernetes workloads in enterprise private cloud environments. The combination of Commvault’s advanced cyber resilience features with Platform9’s cloud management capabilities gives organizations reliable data protection across their infrastructure.
Key benefits of the integration include agentless virtual machine backup and recovery for simplified workload protection, application-consistent backups that preserve data integrity and granular file recovery for fast restoration of individual files and folders. The integration also supports VM disaster recovery across geographically distributed clusters and provides protection for dynamic, cloud-native Kubernetes environments.
“Commvault’s industry-leading cyber resilience and data protection features are trusted by enterprise customers to help them protect their most important data,” said Madhura Maskasky, co-founder and chief product officer at Platform9. “The combination of Commvault and Private Cloud Director provides a compelling solution for customers looking for a private cloud that is easy to use and has all the features they expect, particularly those who have been forced to re-evaluate their existing approach.”
Platform9 is a venture capital-backed company that has raised $100 million over seven rounds. Investors in the company include Celesta Capital, Cota Capital Management, NGP Capital Management, Rackspace Technology Inc., Menlo Ventures LP and Redpoint Ventures LP.
