The rise of artificial intelligence has resulted in a double-edged sword, as its innovation pace is fast exceeding the available talent pool. In a practical case of self-instantiation, however, AI is being repositioned as a critical tool to help students overcome challenges in programming and model training through personalized digital learning and affordable access to cloud-based graphics processing units.
Dell’s Varun Chhabra and Elice’s Jae Won Kim discuss AI-powered learning with theCUBE.
“We’ve accumulated learners in Korea, and we’re providing two solutions to provide AI education,” said Jae Won Kim (pictured, right), chief executive officer at Elice Inc. “The Elice Learning Experience Platform provides personalized learning for digital AI, and Elice Cloud powers up the GPU infrastructure to provide the AI infrastructure.”
Kim and Varun Chhabra (left), senior vice president of product marketing, Infrastructure Solutions Group and Telecom, at Dell Technologies Inc., spoke with theCUBE’s Jackie McGuire and Dave Vellante at Dell Technologies World, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how the AI-driven partnership between Elice and Dell Technologies facilitates affordable, scalable and accessible digital learning for millions. (* Disclosure below.)
One of the biggest barriers to AI education is cost. GPUs are expensive, and traditional cloud services have proved unsustainable for Elice’s needs, according to Kim. By partnering with Dell, Elice has introduced Portable Modular Data Centers, which are self-contained GPU-powered units that are cheaper to deploy, highly secure and adaptable to South Korea’s regulatory environment.
“We looked into the solution in a public cloud service and it was out of budget for education services,” Kim said. “To make this affordable, we introduced the Dell PMDC, and it has reduced the cost by 80% if you compare it to the public cloud services.”
Elice’s example serves as a case study both in democratizing AI education and pioneering data center innovation. The partnership makes AI accessible to students and creates a blueprint for organizations struggling with the cost and complexity of modern AI infrastructure, Chhabra added.
“The unique designs that Elice has brought are now seeing demand in other areas,” he said. “It’s an incredible story of something that’s aimed at helping society. But then, the technical innovation that’s come through the effort is being looked at now across the board in different industries.”
