The data infrastructure industry is undergoing a major transformation driven by cloud adoption, artificial intelligence integration and the need for cyber resilience. Companies are investing in next-generation enterprise storage to support AI-driven insights while improving efficiency and protection.
NetApp Inc. has responded to this new environment by building intelligence into modern data infrastructure, spanning on-premises and cloud. NetApp has been a leader since the nineties in storage solutions, but a new era for data centers brings new expectations, according to John Furrier, executive analyst with theCUBE Research.
“Now, the data platforms are a critical horizontal layer for those vertical applications where the business logic is,” Furrier said earlier this year. “[NetApp is] in the prime real estate position in the stack and in the chips.”
This month, theCUBE’s Christophe Bertrand will discuss next-generation enterprise storage and how NetApp is looking to drive efficiency, scalability and resilience. Earlier this year, NetApp beat expectations as it delivered its first-quarter fiscal 2026 results. Organizations are choosing them over competitors for their expertise in building AI-ready data infrastructure, according to George Kurian, chief executive officer of NetApp.
“We are well-positioned and growing in the emerging enterprise AI opportunity. I am confident in our ability to capitalize on this momentum and deliver sustainable long-term growth,” Kurian said regarding the company’s promising fiscal release.
NetApp’s latest moves emphasize how the company is looking to modernize enterprise storage and position itself at the center of AI-driven transformation. That includes the company’s new additions to its AFF A-series portfolio of all-flash arrays, which the company said is necessary to support customers’ AI deployments.
“You cannot implement any AI model or training system if your data is not ready,” said Riccardo Di Blasio, senior vice president and general manager for America sales at NetApp, while speaking with theCUBE. “Representing the company that is the leader of data management, particularly in the high end of the market … where the majority of the AI project will start to take place, we feel uniquely positioned and advantaged to monetize that opportunity and to help our customer to make sure their AI project will be successful.”
The company has spoken in the past few months about its All-Flash FAS and All-Flash SAN Array series. Powered by the unified ONTAP operating system, it’s intended to deliver a self-optimizing, future-ready data fabric that supports modern enterprise workloads with agility, efficiency and intelligence, according to Sandeep Singh, senior vice president and general manager of enterprise storage at NetApp.
“Our unified AFF series is ideal for customers for their high-performance file workloads, for their mission-critical VMware and database workloads,” he said. “In addition to that, our ASA series is providing customers that resilient, that high-performance, low-latency storage for their VMware database workloads, and we also provide customers with capacity flash for their tier two general-purpose application workloads.”
