Facility management startup Prefix Maintenance Inc. today announced that it has raised $7.5 million in new funding to support the development of its artificial intelligence infrastructure, boost sales and marketing efforts, and drive scalability to service more than 10,000 locations across the U.S.
Founded in 2022, Prefix offers a facility management platform that is designed for multisite restaurant and retail operators that helps them coordinate maintenance and repair across large, distributed location networks.
Multi-location retail and restaurant brands struggle to keep their spaces fully operational and lose more than 10% of profit margins to errors, inefficiencies and antiquated facility management strategies. Prefix argues that coordinating large multisite brands with thousands of local vendors is complex and inconsistent. Moreover, technicians often lack the administrative capabilities needed to meet compliance requirements of large brands that rely on computerized maintenance management systems, or CMMSes, to manage their facilities.
Prefix alleviates the friction between technicians and CMMS platforms by acting as a seamless coordination layer that plugs into existing systems and leverages agentic AI to automate tasks. The company’s platform translates between independent local contractors and large, multisite businesses to allow for repair and maintenance jobs to be completed faster, cheaper and more reliably.
“We set out to alleviate the most significant headaches in multisite facility management by improving the flow of data, communication and service,” said Chief Executive Jared Schwartzentruber. “We are providing a critical layer that helps to optimize operations both in the stores and in the backoffice.”
Prefix oversees 24/7 on-demand repair and maintenance for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electric and other critical trades that require fast resolution while delivering reliable timelines and competitive pricing.
The company is providing that support to nearly 2,000 locations across 50 customers spanning quick-service restaurants and convenience stores. Notable customers include Bojangles OpCp LLC, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc.,and Famous Footwear.
Prefix achieved $2.5 million in annual recurring revenue in two years and says that for its customers, it has delivered threefold efficiency gains and more than 15% cost savings.
The seed funding round was led by Collide Capital and Slow Ventures, with Connexa Capital, Elevated Huts Inc., I2BF Global Investments Ltd. and Bienville Capital Management also participating.
“Multisite operators are managing hundreds — sometimes thousands — of vendors across vastly different geographies, each with their own communication preferences, pricing structures and compliance capabilities,” said Brian Hollins, founder and managing partner of Collide Capital. “What makes Prefix so compelling is that it solves the coordination problem at scale — acting as the connective tissue between large brands and the best local technicians in every market they operate in.”
