PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Anthropic PBC today announced a major expansion of their alliance, as the consulting giant is set to roll out Claude Code and Claude Cowork across its workforce and train 30,000 U.S. professionals on the artificial intelligence company’s models.
The expanded deal also establishes a joint Center of Excellence and a new Claude-native finance business group inside PwC’s Office of the CFO practice. The rollout begins with U.S. teams before extending toward PwC’s global workforce of more than 364,000 people across 136 countries.
The two firms describe the work as a response to what they estimated at more than $2 trillion in technical debt sitting inside enterprise operations. The expansion focuses on three areas: agentic technology builds for clients, AI-native dealmaking covering diligence through integration and the reinvention of finance, supply chain and human resources functions.
PwC said several deployments are already running in production. Insurance underwriting cycles have been compressed from 10 weeks to 10 days at one client, while a mainframe modernization project handling a COBOL codebase four times larger than scoped is tracking on time and under budget. A stalled human resources transformation was restarted with a working prototype in one week and a full application live in under two months, now handling thousands of daily transactions.
In cybersecurity work, incident response has been cut from hours to minutes through agentic vulnerability operations. Across the portfolio, clients are reporting delivery improvements of up to 70%.
Advocate Health, one of the largest U.S. health systems, is among the organizations building toward full-scale deployment of Claude across its 167,000-person workforce. “Our collaboration with Anthropic and PwC isn’t about deploying technology for its own sake,” said Andy Crowder, chief digital and AI officer at Advocate Health. “It’s about building the foundation that allows our 167,000 teammates to do more for every patient in every community we serve, including the rural communities that need us most.”
Claude is already running inside PwC’s internal AI assistant, ChatPwC and is being used in three active AI incubation pods covering finance, supply chain and dealmaking. Claude Cowork, which operates inside productivity software such as spreadsheets, word processors and presentation tools, will extend access to a broader pool of staff. Connection to enterprise data is handled through Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol.
The training program is anchored in the joint Center of Excellence and follows hands-on sessions earlier this year at PwC’s Advisory Leadership Exchange, where more than 5,000 partners and senior leaders were introduced to the alliance.
“PwC has been leading AI’s expansion into the parts of the economy where accuracy and reliability are nonnegotiable — financial services, healthcare, life sciences, cybersecurity — and the results are clear,” Dario Amodei, co-founder and chief executive of Anthropic, said in a statement. He pointed to the insurance underwriting and cybersecurity response improvements as evidence.
Paul Griggs, U.S. senior partner and chief executive of PwC, commented that the conversation around AI had shifted from possibility to execution, with clients looking for deployments that are “secure, responsible and capable of delivering measurable outcomes in complex business environments.”
The expanded alliance comes as Anthropic continues to push Claude deeper into regulated industries, where rival foundation model providers, including OpenAI Group PBC and Google LLC, are also competing for enterprise share.
