What to expect during Intuit Connect: Join theCUBE Oct. 28
Will bringing automation into the financial industry prove disastrous or transformative?
Intuit Inc., the financial technology company behind Credit Karma, QuickBooks and TurboTax, sees artificial intelligence as the next frontier of financial software. The industry is moving from manual reconciliation and data entry to proactive financial planning and analysis, according to Paul Nashawaty, principal analyst for theCUBE Research. Intuit is leading that shift.
“AI allows for continuous, real-time insights rather than retrospective reporting,” Nashawaty said. “However, the peril remains data accuracy and the ‘black box’ nature of financial decision-making; firms must ensure explainability and human-in-the-loop governance for compliance. Intuit’s strategy appears focused on embedding these capabilities directly into its platform workflow, effectively turning its accounting tools into an AI-driven autonomous finance engine.”
At Intuit Connect, experts and analysts will gather to discuss the integration of AI into accounting and financial operations, with exclusive coverage on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, airing Oct. 28. TheCUBE will cover Intuit’s approach to AI-powered automation and its implications for financial operations. (* Disclosure below.)
The pros and perils of automation
Intuit is looking to strengthen its position in the marketplace with a strategy driven by AI-powered automation. The company is developing AI agents capable of handling tasks across accounting, customer management and other business operations, extending automation beyond individual processes to more comprehensive workflows.
“From an application development perspective, the opportunity is significant, but so is the responsibility,” Nashawaty said. “TheCUBE AppDev research finds that 93% of enterprises are developing or piloting custom AI agents, yet only 21% have mature governance, data quality and integration frameworks to support them at scale. In financial operations, where accuracy, privacy, compliance and trust are non-negotiable, autonomy without the right controls can quickly become a liability.”
Intuit is driving the transition from “‘AI as a feature” to “AI as the operating model,” which means developing an intelligent system that can execute entire workflows instead of automating individual tasks. In an industry where security and compliance are nonnegotiable, Intuit must ensure its agents have the right controls.
“Intuit’s strategy is a compelling example of where this market is heading,” Nashawaty said. “By investing in its proprietary Generative AI Operating System … Intuit is building toward an AI-driven platform that can move from insight to action while keeping customers in control. This event will help viewers understand what it takes to move AI-powered automation from experimentation into production and why the winners will be those who build governance, integration, and human oversight into the architecture from day one.”
