T-Mobile Leverages SAP HANA with a Push from HP

T-Mobile is using converged infrastructure from Hewlett-Packard to run HANA and achieve a reduction in the time it takes to analyze customer data.

SAP’s in-memory analytics platform is one of if not the biggest highlight of the SAP SAPphire NOW conference held this week, and HP didn’t miss its opportunity to get its share of the spotlight.

T-Mobile has a customer base of about 33 million subscribers, and the carrier has installed an HP AppSystems for SAP HANA to achieve more targeted marketing and improve customer support. The solution is a combo of ProLiant servers and storage and networking components from Hewlett-Packard, which also provided configuration and deployment services.

“T-Mobile needed faster and better customer insight from its varied data systems,” said Paul Miller, vice president, Converged Systems, HP. “HP and SAP quickly delivered a turnkey solution that provides simplicity, performance and faster time to value.”

HANA is getting its share of the limelight at SAPphire, and at the same time HP is making a few big pushes of its own. Most notable was the hardware’s giant first real entry into the IaaS space last week, when HP Cloud Services entered public beta. The platform itself still has  a long way before the first version releases, but general availability was a good enough excuse for countless partners to jump on the bandwagon.

One of those early adopters is EnterpriseDB, which announced that it’s making its DBaaS available on the new infrastructure just a day after roll out.
