Updated with full video – see below.

Welcome to NewsDesk on SiliconANGLE TV for Tuesday July 16, 2013. Big Data technologies are increasingly making their way into our everyday lives, but is there a point when data gathering can be taken too far? Joining us today to provide his breaking analysis on new data gathering methods and the ways in which they’re being implemented is Wikibon Principal Research Contributor Jeff Kelly but before we go to Jeff let’s take a look at this short clip that introduces some of these new data practices

See live feed below or visit youtube.com/siliconangle to watch on-demand.

On today’s episode, Wikibon’s Jeff Kelly will discuss Nordstrom’s experimentations with new technology, and he’ll explain some of the other ways retailers have been collecting data on customers.

He’ll also discuss the potential for the technology and the possible benefits and downfalls of gathering data. You’ll hear us ask him to explain the difference between real life data, and virtual user data, and how shoppers have been tracked up until now.

Finally, we’ll be sure to get Jeff’s scoop on the possibility of a branch of new companies and technologies appealing to consumer protection, and we will be sure to ask him if there is a market for the consumers who want to remain anonymous.
