LIVE: NSA Officials Struggle with Spyraling Public Image
Welcome to NewsDesk on SiliconANGLE TV for Thursday August 1, 2013. Just as the NSA attempted to make amends with the security community, they have been dealt another blow as a result of the Edward Snowden document leaks. Joining us now to update us on the latest details is SiliconANGLE Contributing Editor John Casaretto.

Yesterday morning NSA Director Keith Alexander appeared at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas where he hoped to mend the NSA’s reputation in the eyes of thousands of the conference’s hackers and security professionals but instead found himself face-to-face with several hecklers in the audience.
When speaking of his NSA staff, Alexander said “Their reputation has been tarnished.” And he pleaded with the hacker and security researcher community to reconsider the importance of the NSA’s role.
On today’s episode of NewsDesk with Kristin Feledy, we’ll ask our very own security expert John Casaretto to give us his take on the NSA Director’s speech, and he’ll also give his in-depth coverage on the evidence Alexander cited for the side of the NSA.
Finally, we’ll get his impression about the XKeyScore program, and discuss how its different than PRISM, and whether or not we should consider it more or less invasive than it’s predecessor.
