Virident: No Flash In the Pan #VMworld

On SiliconANGLE’s theCUBE, broadcasting live from the VMworld Conference in San Francisco, Wikibon’s Dave Vellante and SiliconANGLE’s John Furrier welcomed Ken Grohe, Vice President of Worldwide Customer Operations for Virident.

Grohe highlighted how Virident has, since April, been investing in and creating an enterprise-ready flash platform. The investment he highlighted has positioned Virident to be a leader in the coming transition to flash. As the technology is coming fully online, the challenge is to achieve commitment from brick and mortar enterprise in transitioning their architecture to a flash-driven one. Grohe claims this will be more easily achieved as their flash options closely mimic the traditional SAN architecture, making adoption less headache-prone for the end user.

Of course, Grohe went on to say, there would need to be some professional transformation on the part of those individuals who manage storage. He says what we are witnessing today is reminiscent of the same transformation that was required when SAN first came on the scene.

There are many reasons to believe Virident will not only survive but thrive after the impending flash bubble bursts. And looking at their impressive 300 percent growth is but one of those reasons. Grohe credits Virident’s ability to offer unconditional performance as a key factor in their surge in growth. Add to that an established client base (over 50 percent of their sales to date have been to end users, for example) along with multiple options for enterprise implementation and its clear to see Virident is well-positioned for the future of flash.

Vellante and Furrier asked Grohe to expound on what is on the horizon for Virident. Grohe doubled down on his claim they intend to lead the flash transformation. And he backed this up by stating the company has committed to investing everything into their software.
