After more than a month of speculation, Guavus revealed that it has snagged Manish Goel as CEO. Formerly the executive vice president of product operations at NetApp, Goel resigned in September to take the helm of a “privately held data analytics company located in the San Francisco Bay Area” that was left unnamed until last week.
Goel is taking over the reins from Anukool Lakhina, who founded Guavus in 2006 with the goal of helping telecoms tap their growing data troves to optimize network capacity and boost the bottom line. The firm raised over $80 million in funding to date, and lists three of the four largest mobile operators in the U.S. among its customers.
As part of his new role, Goel will be responsible for spearheading the company’s aggressive growth strategy and accelerating its expansion into new markets.
The executive noted in a statement that “Guavus is at the heart of a fundamental shift in the industry where social, mobile, cloud and big data analytics are converging to create unprecedented levels of business agility. They are already established as the market leader for big data analytics for the Communications Service Provider (CSP) industry and have an enormous opportunity to be a multi-billion dollar business across enterprise markets globally.”
Last month, revenue analytics startup C9 appointed Michael Howard as chief executive officer. Formerly the vice president of marketing at Greenplum and the head of data warehousing for Oracle, the veteran executive brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the company.
C9 announced the hire after raising $12 million in Series D funding from Mayfield Fund, InterWest Partners and Leapfrog Ventures. The company said that it will use the capital to boost marketing efforts and bolster its Big Data lineup.
