Companies around the world are starting to recognize that machine data analytics is not just for IT anymore. Connected devices, from servers to mobile phones, produce large volumes of information that contain valuable insights into user behaviors, service levels and other important factors that affect the bottom line. Leading this trend, Splunk is supplying enterprises with the tools they need to unlock the real value of operational data. Roberto Besick, a consultant for Brazilian e-commerce giant B2W, says that the vendor’s software enabled his firm to change the way it does business and drive efficiencies in the process.
Appearing on theCUBE alongside Marcelo Souza, an account manager at Splunk Brazil, Besick hails Splunk as an end-to-end solution for aggregating, processing and visualizing machine data. The largest e-commerce company in Latin America, B2W utilizes the platform for troubleshooting, monitoring and a wide range of other use cases.
Souza tells host John Furrier that Splunk is on a fast track for growth with 14 customers in Brazil and a total of 80 in Latin America. He highlights that companies in the region are increasingly tapping Big Data in a push to catch up to their U.S. competitors, which are currently several years ahead from a technological standpoint.
Asked about the benefits of Splunk, Besick names ease of use as a major differentiator that sets the company apart from rivals. He says that he deployed the platform to B2W’s multi-terabyte production environment in only two months, a feat that earned him a promotion. Elaborating on the firm’s case study, Souza says that Splunk enables it to not only streamline operations, but also improve regulatory compliance and customer service through more effective invoicing.
