CES 2014 aftermath : Quantified Self review
This week’s Quantified Self roundup features a device that lets you know when to wear sunscreen, a fitness tracker that makes sense of your data, and a new way to monitor your sleep patterns.
June by Netatmo
June is a piece of jewelry that can be worn as a brooch or a bracelet. It monitors the sun’s intensity and tells you, via the mobile app, if you need to wear sunscreen, a hat or wear your sunglasses.
June also monitors your total daily sun exposure, and even give you tips on how to protect yourself against the sun’s UV rays to prevent skin problems such as premature skin aging or even skin damage. Juno comes in three colors: platinum, gold and gunmetal, so women can choose the best color that fits their lifestyle or wardrobe.
Reign by Jaybird
This wearable tracker doesn’t come in a flashy package, nor does it have a screen that tells you the time or if you have achieved your goal or your current progress. But what sets Reign apart from other fitness trackers is the Go Zone. You can view the Go Zone via a mobile app and it tells you when you’re living a balanced life.
Not only does Reign track your activity and sleep patterns, it tells you how much you sleep you need in order to be at your best when you wake up the next day. Also, when you work out too much, Reign tells you when it’s time just sit back and relax. And if you’re getting too much time relaxing, Reign knows when it’s the best time to be active. It’s just not a fitness or sleep tracker, it’s a device that makes sense of all the data it has gathered for you to become the best version of yourself.
Withings Aura
This is a new product from Withings, introduced at CES 2014. The Withings Aura has three components, a bedside device that records your sleep environment( noise pollution, room temperature, and light levels) along with scientifically-validated light and sound programs to help you sleep and wake up.
Aura comes with a sleep sensor that goes under the mattress to monitor your personal sleep patterns, cycles (body movements, breathing cycles, heart rate); and the mobile app so you can better understand what keeps you up at night, compare nights, and even personalize wake-up and sleep programs. The Withings Aura will be available by Spring 2014.
