Google’s Now on Tap goes multilingual, brings flight status, package-tracking, and more
Google’s Now on Tap for Android analyzes information you are engaging with on your phone’s screen and subsequently provides helpful shortcuts or links. With the latest update, Now on Tap includes four new features that are likely to make your life easier including quick access to flight and package-tracking information, related news stories and the addition of more languages.
Flight information is just one tap away
With the latest update, when someone sends you a text message with his or her flight number, just press and hold your phone’s home button. Now on Tap will pull up the flight status details in a small pop-up, ensuring you do not have to leave the conversation or conduct a separate search.
Track your deliveries this festive season
With the festive season in full swing, you are now able to use Now on Tap to get the tracking information of your gifts. Pull up the email confirmation for your order, press and hold your phone’s home button and the tracking data will be available.
Related news stories at your fingertips
If you want to find related news stories when you are reading a specific article, simply press and hold your phone’s home button and a Google News search results pop-up will show related articles.
More languages for Now on Tap
Finally, Google is adding six new languages to Now on Tap. If you speak Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian or Korean, Now on Tap will be able to listen and respond in these languages. Google plans to add more languages soon.
How to enable or disable Google Now on Tap
Whether you love or hate Now on Tap, it is very easy to switch the feature on or off. So if you missed enabling it when you set up your phone or no longer have any use for it, here is how you go about it.
Either tap on the Google icon to open Google Now or swipe right if you are using the Google Now Launcher. Choose Settings under the left-hand menu and select Now cards. Toggle Now on Tap to either enable or disable the feature depending on your preference.
