It’s clear that the digital transformation is upon the Unified Communications (UC) world, and Enterprise Connect 2016 is highlighting this with a focus on the cloud.
In this interview at #EC16, John Furrier, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, and Peter Bailey, CEO of Vertical Communications, Inc., discuss how to move into the cloud without losing focus on the true needs of the business.
Vertical Communications works with mostly retail businesses, and re-platforming to the cloud is the company’s number one issue right now. But Bailey believes it is important that technology meets the needs of the business, as well as IT needs such as security. Putting the two needs together is the biggest challenge he sees, but, “The customer is the business ultimately,” said Bailey. “This is not about us; this is about the customer.”
Discussing the interplay of vertical and horizontal interplay, Bailey described how Vertical Communications provides a mix of behind firewall secure and cloud framework solutions. From call management on up and customer engagement down, Vertical thinks about the whole stack. Bailey told Furrier, “We’re not just providing a horizontal solution, we’re going deep; two inches off the ground, in these markets, to make a difference.”
