A Redwood City startup called Pyze Inc. is adding its name to the lengthy list of contenders in the mobile analytics market today with the launch of a new business intelligence tool for Android and iOS developers. The service can aggregate activity data from an application in a visual dashboard that makes it possible to easily check what the user base is up to any given time.
Pyze Growth Intelligence also provides the ability to go a step further and isolate the activity patterns of a specific segment like, say, people in a certain age group or heavy in-app spenders. A developer can use the information to try and explore new ways of increasing their software’s popularity among each group. For instance, if a retailer finds that downloads of its shopping app spike when a significant discount is available, then it could start posting promotions more frequently to boost adoption. The ability to identify such influencing factors is equally useful for improving revenue from existing users and mitigating churn.
Developers can use Pyze’s built-in notification functionality to engage segments experiencing unusually high attrition with special offers and other tailored content aimed at revitalizing interest. The messages are delivered through the embedded agent that the service uses to collect activity data, which is able to take action when a user is most receptive to a sales pitch. This focus on automation has helped the startup attract $1.7 million in seed funding from Double Dock LLC, Fibre Optics inventor Narinder Kapany and half a dozen other angel investors against the backdrop of its launch announcement.
Pyze will use the new capital to jump-start its push against App Annie Inc., which raised $63 million in a recent round of its own, and the other well-entrenched vendors that currently dominate the mobile analytics market. The startup hopes to start drawing away customers by offering a free edition of its service that makes it possible to sample the core feature set before committing to a purchase.
