Cloud dichotomy: Enterprise hybrid cloud vs. native hybrid cloud | #emcworld

Cloud continues to gain momentum as enterprise and startups alike move their data and applications into digital representations. The real question for most companies interested in the cloud is: How do you want to proceed?

EMC offers two tracks, Enterprise Hybrid Cloud (EHC) or Native Hybrid Cloud. EHC is a modernization of the data center while the Cloud Native approach is a “true digital transformation,” said Peter Cutts, VP of global solutions at VCE, Converged Platforms Division of EMC.

Cutts explored customer options with John Furrier (@furrier) and Dave Vellante (@dvellante), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during an interview at EMC World 2016 in Las Vegas. Cutts talked about how “automating platform two” in EMC’s EHC “cuts costs.” He also discussed how converged platforms benefit customers, giving the following definition: a combination of system and solution in one platform. He emphasized the importance of working the “value curve into cloud.”

Build or buy?

Cutts said the major question customers ask themselves is “build or buy?” He continued saying that “customers still want to build” and EMC is pleased to do so. Nevertheless, if a customer wants to buy, Cutts said, “We’ve got it.”

When asked about the direction the industry is taking, Cutts replied, “All flash is changing the game.” In addition, he commented that the industry is trying to go to stack-based.
