With news of Fitbit, Inc.’s victory at the recent ACG Silicon Valley (ACG SV) Awards, many startups will be studying the company to try to copy its formula for success. How does ACG SV measure “success” or “growth” anyway? And why did Fitbit fit the bill this year?
Deloitte (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited), a diversified business services firm, has been a long-time sponsor of the ACG Grow Awards. Managing Partner Garrett Herbert spoke about Fitbit’s trajectory to the winner’s circle.
“One of the key metrics that we look at is revenue growth, and Fitbit has had an incredible run over the last five years,” Herbert told Lisa Martin (@Luccazara),cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team. “But what’s particularly amazing about Fitbit is that they’ve been doing it very profitably, so it’s really been a great testament that you can grow and grow in a profitable manner,” he explained.
When Martin asked Herbert if he had any predictions about who might win next year, he confessed that he had no idea. In fact, he said there is room for wild cards on the table, because, “If you told me Fitbit three years ago was going to be here today, I wouldn’t have necessarily thought that.”
