Doctors may soon turn to an app for cutting-edge medical information | #Amplify
The medical field is complex, vast and ever-changing. But doctors are only human. There’s no way for doctors to keep up with the pace of new discoveries and treatments. One solution is to combine advances in computer capability with a doctor’s own experience to create a mobile diagnostic platform with the most cutting-edge information.
To learn more about this merger of machine and medicine, Jeff Frick (@JeffFrick), co-host of theCUBE*, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, visited the Girls in Tech — Amplify, Women’s Pitch Night 2016 event in San Francisco, CA. There, he met with Dr. Mima Geere, co-founder of ResultCare Inc.
Evidence-based, cutting edge
The discussion started as Geere described ResultCare and why it’s needed. She explained that ResultCare is a mobile app, a technology platform backend focused around diagnostic testing. It’s designed to service the core market of medicine.
“We’re bringing evidence-based medicine to the point of care to help doctors make complex decisions within seconds,” Geere said.
Geere pointed out that new evidence is appearing every day, and few doctors are able to keep up with the pace of research. Patients have to be concerned about how current their doctor’s knowledge might be. Everyone wants their doctor to have the most modern medicine, but that’s not often the case.
Medical information and mobile technology
Geere related that she had an opportunity to see medicine from the other side when her husband had a near-death experience. She noticed people didn’t have time to take care of patients in the way they required. She realized that with technology, a lot of information could be brought together in a system for doctors to access.
The fact is, medicine has a data problem. Geere explained that new literature is coming out all the time. Now, that literature can be pulled into technology. She felt the key was presenting the information, while allowing doctors to make their own decisions in the way they believe is correct.
