QCT unveils Rackgo R infrastructure for optimizing data center environments

Data center hardware and software provider Quanta Cloud Technology is kicking off its Q.synergy 2017 event with the launch of new infrastructure offerings for cloud service providers and telecommunications firms.

Taiwan-based QCT is a subsidiary of Quanta Computing Inc. that rivals established technology giants such as Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Co. and Dell Technologies Inc. with its data center products. On Thursday, the company announced its new Rackgo R portfolio of data center products for compute, storage and networking, based on Intel Corp.’s latest Rack Scale Design software framework, making it ideal for the multitenant workloads typically run by hyperscale cloud and telco service providers.

The cornerstone of QCT’s new offering is its QCT System Manager Premium software platform, which allows data center operators to manage and maintain their entire information technology infrastructure from a single console. With QSM, Rackgo R customers can spin up and shut down data center resources on the fly as their constantly changing workloads require.

QSM handles all of the network switch settings, as well as compute and storage resource configuration, for each workload running in the data center. It basically provides a way for data center operators to optimize their infrastructure to get the most performance out of it.

The system also monitors the state of the hardware being used in the data center, helping teams to know when it’s time to upgrade or replace specific equipment, the company said. This includes providing network mappings on demand and in real time so that IT teams can visualize their infrastructure and direct resources appropriately.

“Combining QCT’s experience as one of the industry’s first adopters of Intel Rack Scale Design with over a decade of research and collaboration with hyperscale service providers, we have architected our own RSD-based solutions to meet the demanding needs of CSPs and telcos,” said Mike Yang (pictured), president of QCT.

QCT also showed off a selection of new Rackgo R compliant hardware at Q.synergy 2017, which includes a variety of servers, storage and networking products powered by its Next Generation Server Platforms.
