Juniper Partners with Nokia-Siemens Networks, More Updates in Line
The joint venture between Nokia-Siemens Networks and Juniper Networks brings the launch of the Carrier Ethernet Transport 2.0 (CET 2.0) that will help operators to balance capacity and cost in their Ethernet access network. It will also include new features for Nokia Siemens Networks’ ASPEN network management system. The CET 2.0 will be beneficial for both fixed and mobile service providers as it will not only help them reduce the operational costs, but also provide advanced visibility and faster time for services in network wide operations.
Recently, Juniper has also integrated its vGW Virtual Gateway with SRX Gateways to launch its new offering for private and public cloud deployments. This SRX-vGW integration will be beneficial, as it offers the organizations visibility unto virtualized environments. As reported by Juniper, some of the major benefits of this integration include “automatic creation of zone-based smart policy groups, automated security classification and enforcement for new or cloned VMs, automated VM compliance assessment based on multiple VM attributes, and quarantine of non-compliant VMs.”
“This vGW Virtual Gateway offers organisations access to robust, comprehensive security optimised for high performance, flexibility and scale in virtualised environments. New offering ensures that security is maintained and enforced right down to each individual VM, while enhancing the operational efficiency of security management,” said Douglas Murray, Senior VP and GM of security business unit of Juniper Networks.
Just to refresh the memory, this integration is the first step of multi-phased strategy of Juniper’s acquisition of Altor in December 2010, to provide an automated approach for data center security.
Finally, we also heard about Juniper releasing its earnings report for Q4 2010. Company’s stock jumped almost 13 percent after its earnings report release and hence we can expect some even better results for future as market is very much optimistic about Juniper’s growth. Although markets market forecast suggests good development, there might be some discrepancies regarding its industry position, which Forbes charts out here.
Juniper competes with industry leaders like Cisco, HP, Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei- 3Com in its network equipment business. There are so many factors contributing to the growth of company’s stock, an important one is the bottom layer switch market. Undoubtedly, Juniper has small presence as compared to all these companies, it competes in like edge and core routers, which is the biggest opportunity for Juniper. In fact, it is much bigger than the combined size for routers. So, what do you think–can Juniper take away shares from other industry giants?
