Several tablet of yesteryear flood the online market and traders are all on standby. And this my friend, is the way to welcome the sleeker sister of Apple’s iPad —the iPad 2. Yes. Even before the human race gets to master the first version, a new tablet steps into the limelight.
The entrée of iPad 2 brought mixed emotions from analysts, users and marketplace trends. Whether the iPad 2 will fully supplant the Motorola Xoom is still a question, but experts feel that this tablet is a game changer. Carolina Milanesi, Vice President of Research in Consumer Technologies at Gartner feels exactly the same. She says, “Competitors have a new benchmark. As they roll out their first-generation devices, Apple has moved the game to the next level – offering more for the same price, and giving users an option to go from the basic model to the high-end model, while competitors – at least for now – only match the high-end model. That gives Apple a larger addressable market. If competitors will come down on price it will certainly be done with a compromise on specifications, even if it is just on the screen size. With Apple you do not compromise your overall experience.”
iPad 2 runs on the latest version of Apple’s OS iOS 4.3. which brings a faster Safari browsing experience, improved AirPlay and new iTunes Home Sharing feature that gives users the power to play content stored in desktop over WiFi. But, video fanatics will surely be the most delighted with this new loot. It boasts two additional and is geared up to battle 5 MP cameras and 2MP front-facing camera. The front-facing VGA camera is expected to bring FaceTime and PhotoBooth features for users. The tablet also offers 720p video capture, 720p native video playback support at up to 30 frames per second and video chat with other Mac users. The iPad 2 upgraded video capabilities without a doubt, will encourage more high-end apps and more online video streaming.
Living in a post-PC world, everything seems to be possible. This means rivals should rally their resources, before iPad 3 comes along and changes things all over again.
