PegaWorld welcomes developers, as virtual event encourages collaboration and innovation

Many organizations have a disconnect between the people who use applications and those who create them. But any business that regards the information-technology team as a bunch of geeks whose mission is to create what they’re told to create is missing out on the value engineers can bring. And vice versa.

“As a developer, if you just take what someone tells you is a requirement and you just go code that, then you’re not a true engineer or an innovator,” said Stephanie Louis (pictured), senior director of community and developer programs at Pegasystems Inc.

She encouraged software developers to become part of the end-to-end story at today’s PegaWorld iNspire virtual event.

Louis spoke with Dave Vellante, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the PegaWorld iNspire virtual event. They discussed the upcoming event and how collaboration between business operations and engineering leads to better solutions for the customer. (* Disclosure below.)

Innovative development doesn’t come from following an edict

When developers are encouraged to be part of the decision process rather than just performing a task handed to them, they are able “to put their own innovation into the why, and the how, and the what,” Louis said.

This is a win-win situation for everyone, as the developer gets more job satisfaction and the end product is better. “Every person not only wants to progress their own career, but also give back and do good,” Louis said. “And if you combine those two together, that’s how you achieve the optimal results.”

This year’s PegaWorld iNspire may be virtual, but it is keeping its interactive energy, according to Louis. As an example, she discussed the keynote by Pega’s Senior Vice President of Product Kerim Akgonul, which will have four parts.

First, Akgonul will discuss “the product capabilities that people need to be aware of as they’re enhancing their own digital transformation,” Louis said. Then one of Pega’s customers will talk about real-life use cases, and Akgonul will give a live product demo showcasing the latest improvements and additions. Finally, Louis will put Akgonul in “the hot seat” for a live question-and-answer session with the community.

Pega has the goal of integrating the business and the technological parts of a company so that they work seamlessly together; something that is important in today’s digital-first environment. In her role as senior director of community and developer programs, Louis has made certain that developers will find plenty to inspire them at the event. The Innovation Hub will have live participation and coding with product experts Twitch style.

“When you are asked to participate, you then take that back to your job the next day and utilize those new capabilities and the innovation that we’re able to show you,” Louis explained.

Attend the free PegaWorld iNspire virtual event, from 9:00–11:30 a.m. EDT today. Along with live Q&A sessions with keynote speakers, there will be demos and opportunities to interact with current Pega clients. Also make sure to watch theCUBE’s coverage of the event here.
