DevOps application security startup ArmorCode launches with $3M in funding
DevOps application security startup ArmorCode Inc. today launched out of stealth mode, announcing $3 million in seed funding to help it realize a goal of democratizing application security.
The financing was led by Sierra Ventures and included Tau Ventures, Z5 Capital, Andreas Kuehlmann, who’s chief executive officer of Tortuga Logic Inc. and a former security executive at Synopsys Inc., and Prithvi Rai, CEO of Borneo and former senior director of security at Yahoo, Facebook Inc. and Uber Technologies Inc.
The company was co-founded in July by CEO Nikhil Gupta and Chief Technology Officer Anant Misr. Gupta is a former VMware Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc. executive who is best known as the founder of Avid Secure Inc., an artificial intelligence-based cloud security start that was acquired by Sophos Group plc in January 2019. Misra previously worked at FabHotels.com.
ArmorCode is designed to consolidate application security tooling, streamline application security processes, increase business agility and improve developer productivity to help companies take charge of increasingly complicated application security environments. Pitched as offering a next-generation application security platform, ArmorCode offers a single intelligent service that minimizes tooling and alerts while maximizing agility, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The ArmorCode platform includes application security posture management, which is aimed at simplifying AppSec operations by providing a centralized view of all security findings across application and infrastructure security. It enables a streamlined continuous integration and delivery or CI/CD pipeline. It also offers DevSecOps Orchestration that includes a seamless DevSecOps workflow that fosters tighter collaboration between developers and AppSec engineers. Not least, there’s and Continuous Compliance with industry-standard compliance regimes, including SOC2, GDPR, FedRAMP and OWASP Top 10 among others.
“While software development releases have shrunk from years to hours, enterprise application security processes are still slow, antiquated, and chaotic,” Gupta said in a statement. “ArmorCode has designed a massively scalable agentless platform from the ground up to help modernize application security.”
ArmorCode already has 25 employees and clients that include electric vehicle charging company Chargepoint Inc.
