Starbucks currently has an iPhone application and mobile payment system making coffee purchases simple. Buying your daily cup of java is a mere tap of a touch screen. It’s convienent, so what could be better than this?
The iPhone application was updated today, combining both of those applications. Making it really easy to spend money on coffee. One cup may equal two because it’s easy.
The application combines the features of both the old myStarbucks and Starbucks Card Mobile apps, and newly renamed Starbucks app.
Also introducing eGifting. That allows you to send virtual Starbucks Cards on the go to your friends through email or Facebook according to the Starbucks Blog
Not only making it easy to purchase coffee, but sending people Starbucks Cards also makes other wallets vulnerable at the same time. It would be great to sit at a Starbucks just for wireless internet, and be sent a free cup of coffee.
Starbucks already has a rich path of coffee drinkers, so adding a little extra green to the grass can’t hurt. This is a great example of how convenience can shred your wallet worse than a cheese grater. I know this, because I’m from Wisconsin.
