Data protection startup Titaniam raises $6M for sales and product growth

Data protection and privacy startup Titaniam Inc. revealed today that it has raised $6 million in new funding to support an aggressive sales expansion and further product innovations.

Refinery Ventures led the seed round. Also participating in the round were Fusion Fund, Shasta Ventures, Ray Rothrock, Richard Clarke and Dale Fuller.

Founded and led by Arti Raman, a former senior director at Symantec Inc., Titaniam offers a platform that according to the company renders data immune to ransomware, cyberattacks, extortion, insider threats, accidental exposure and any data related cyber event.

The platform is powered by National Measurement Institute-approved and patented innovations in encryption and adaptive data privacy that use data-in-use encryption to try to ensure that even if attackers get in, they cannot leave with valuable data.

In addition to encryption, Titaniam provides critical visibility into data accessed, observed or exfiltrated. The platform provides granular field-level documentation certifying the protected data retained strong encryption throughout the attack, regardless of access privilege.

Using this methodology, the platform neutralizes any data-related leverage ransomware attackers could gain, which saves the enterprise from extortion, regulatory penalties and notification costs, according to Titaniam. The service is also said to provide peace of mind for chief information security officers, executives and boards directors.

The platform can be deployed as a vault, application programming interface, proxy or plugin. Features include always-on encryption, fully usable data, automatic compliance, flexible architecture, third-party data control and easy deployment.

Titaniam is used by regulated enterprises, software-as-a-service providers and product vendors for day-to-day privacy and compliance, as well as strong data protection.

“Ransomware attacks are happening by the hundreds every day,” Raman said in a statement. “It’s more important than ever for organizations to protect their data. We founded Titaniam with one goal in mind: to keep valuable data secure, whether it is on the move, in storage, or being actively used in applications.”
