StackMob, Joyent Expand Cloud Services for Mobile Developers

StackMob, provider of a turnkey backend development and deployment platform for mobile applications, announced a partnership with Joyent, the global provider of cloud computing software and services.   The partnership and integration of StackMob  with Joyent deepens the connection of mobile and cloud infrastructure for developers. StackMob will allow Joyent’s public cloud service and Node.js-based PaaS customers to quickly build, deploy and scale their mobile applications.

Through this strategic relationship, developers will be able to integrate common mobile functions such as messaging, analytics and monetization, via their APIs instead of spending valuable resources creating these services themselves.  Joyent’s robust IaaS and PaaS offerings complement StackMob’s powerful backend services. StackMob provides the messaging, analytics, social integration, monetization and API abstraction services that developers require to be successful in today’s mobile application market. By simplifying the backend, StackMob helps developers get full-featured apps to market more quickly.

“At a time when users worldwide are shifting toward mobile applications and away from web applications, there’s a critical need for simple and powerful solutions that take care of the development fundamentals and accelerate time to market for mobile developers,” said Ty Amell, founder and CEO of StackMob.

“Services that help a developer create an API, integrate messaging services into their app, leverage mobile analytics, and use a successful monetization mechanism mean that developers don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time they develop a new app.”

Joyent and StackMob are both better leaders in their respective fields. They remain focused on providing the best user experience for developers, and the most proven, reliable, scalable, and performance experience for end consumers.  Their partnership significantly lowers the barrier for developers to simultaneously launch apps on mobile and web platforms without significant extra lift. By building your mobile application on StackMob, developers can quickly have the ability to focus on the UI and UX of their mobile application and let StackMob take care of the backend. In addition, StackMob provides a single point of integration to get the best mobile and cloud hosting services.

The recent announcement of Electronic Arts’ $750 purchase of PopCap Games demonstrates the trend of developers migrating towards mobile. Add to this the prediction that the mobile market is projected to grow to $25B by 2015, and it is clear developers of all kinds will continue to move towards building feature-rich applications geared for distribution on mobile devices.  With this partnership announcement, StackMob and Joyent are uniquely positioned to provide the most complete backend solution for mobile application developers.
