Mint Adds Bill Trackers, Reminders. Shows Us Where We Spend.

Everybody needs a little reminder sometimes, as most of us are so busy that we tend to forget to pay important bills.  Mint.com, the financial management tool, has come up with a solution.

“In the past, Mint has been great as a historical record of transactions,” Mint Product Manager Mee-Sun Yuk says. “But we’re now starting to invest in features so you can use Mint more for the future.”

This feature will track all the bills you pay in previous months, and with the gathered information, send you a reminder of what bills to pay.  You have the option of turning the reminder off if, for example, a certain bill is automatically deducted from your bank account.

Their next step is to develop an app available for iPhone, iPad and Android users with additional features that will be very useful in their account management.  Mint’s been steadily updating its features and use cases in the past couple of years, developing more actions around its tools and services.

Mint also released an infographic (below) outlining where we spend our money, in a graph that’s easy to understand and quite amusing.  Looking at gas, coffee shops and golf, Mint’s infographic breaks down our geographical spending on the things that matter most to us (or affect our wallets the most, at least).  Go figure.

While Mint is adding more features to its service, startups such as Manilla are focusing on the tracking aspects of personal management in order to enter the market.  PageOnce is another company that’s diversified its web and mobile approach around personal management, with a deep focus on the mobile front for unique capabilities.
