Exploring the state of AI supremacy and the power of adoption at Supercloud 5

In the battle for artificial intelligence supremacy, adoption and the role of AI in shaping solutions in enterprise tech present two of the biggest topics of discussion.

From Meta Platforms Inc.’s metaverse woes to the meteoric rise of ChatGPT, the AI discussion revolves around the captivating power of curiosity and the democratization of AI.

“If we’re looking at ChatGPT, just as a benchmark for the adoption of AI, it only took them five days to gain their first million users,” said Savannah Peterson (pictured, left), theCUBE industry analyst. “They had a hundred million users within just the first couple of months. Now they have a hundred million users every single week.”

Peterson spoke with fellow host Lisa Martin (right) at the “Supercloud 5: The Battle for AI Supremacy” event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the highlights of Supercloud 5, exploring the current state of AI and the limitless potential of AI across industries.

Adoption of AI within the industry

One key takeaway from Supercloud 5 was the critical role of adoption and education in the AI journey. While AI technology continues to advance, the pace of adoption by businesses and organizations varies. The need for more education in the AI space is important as many potential users remain slow to embrace the technology fully.

“[It] doesn’t necessarily mean that people are applying ChatGPT to their lives outside of folks cheating on their homework and getting essays written, a few blog posts, shortcuts,” Peterson said. “I think it’s safe to say that the hype is real when it comes to the curiosity in this space.”

Organizations should explore AI’s applications in day-to-day operations and engage with it, according to Peterson. AI can enhance various aspects of life, from sports simulations to climate forecasting, and being open-minded with AI can lead to exciting discoveries.

“Start with the things that you love,” Peterson said. “If you love sports, take a look at how AI is simulating a pitch. If you like looking up at the stars at night, take a look at how AI and HPC is powering our climate forecasting. Whatever it is, find your little zone.”
