Driving operational agility: Mann+Hummel unlocks new potential with process intelligence

Based on the growing need for improved decision-making, cost savings and continuous improvement, process intelligence is emerging as a game-changer. It transforms data into actionable insights, giving businesses a competitive advantage by improving process efficiency and adaptability.

To take its filtration expertise a notch higher, Mann+Hummel Group leverages Celonis SE’s process mining and execution management prowess. This strategy triggers the process intelligence needed for operational agility, according to Jean-Marc Erieau (pictured), director of process mining and execution management at Mann+Hummel.

Mann+Hummel’s Jean-Marc Erieau talks with theCUBE about process intelligence being a force to be reckoned with.

“We are starting now to have initiatives together with Celonis to try to understand how can [artificial intelligence] support us in terms of inventory management?” Erieau said. “We did a lot in the past with other solutions already, but now the question is how can we use the execution power of Celonis, combined with AI, to maybe give more smarter insights to the planners on the shop floor to let them maybe work quicker and smarter on master data, on production orders, on scheduling, on managing the inventory [and] on components level and so on.”

Erieau spoke with theCUBE Research’s Savannah Peterson and Rob Strechay at Celosphere 24, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Mann+Hummel is leveraging the power of process intelligence with Celonis’ help. (* Disclosure below.)

Process intelligence as a transformative force

Unlike traditional business analysis, which may rely on periodic reviews and anecdotal insights, process intelligence uses real-time data and analytics to monitor, analyze and optimize business processes continuously. This is the reason why Mann+Hummel launched the process intelligence project with Celonis, according to Erieau.

“We are producing filtration systems … we are well known in the automotive industry for oil filters, air filters and so on,” he said. “The thing is, at the beginning of the project, we said we want[ed] to focus on value categories … cost saving, revenue increase and labor efficiency increase … that was the starting point when we decided in the group to roll out Celonis in every business unit and function.”

Based on the company’s long-term goal of simplifying processes for users with the help of AI, process intelligence is emerging as a perfect fit. This is because it allows organizations to gain a deep, data-driven understanding of their workflows and processes, Erieau pointed out.

“To be 100% convinced that AI can really support us in the processes, not adding more complexity, but making it simpler for the users,” he stated. “If I can say next year that we understand now how AI can support inventory management and process intelligence and we are convinced that this is the right way, that would be a great outcome.”
