This week, we’ve rounded up the usual 5 apps, two of which stand out more than others. First of all, IBM just launched Connections on all the major platforms. Connections, once known as Lotus Connections, is the big blue’s social enterprise platform offering, and it’s a good move by the company to catch up with the rest of the market and go mobile.
Second is SeesmicCRM, specifically the newly introduced Enterprise Edition. It brings Salesforce to Android tablets, and the app is free.
iPad
Connections’ iPad is a pretty rounded-out portal to the social platform, and allows users to access employee data along with internal user-created resources such as blogs, wikis etc. The iOS version also features a partial wipe functionality, that allows admins to delete only the sensitive data on an employee’s device.
Idea Flight is the enterprise version of the publication’s very popular iPad presentation tool. It’s essentially a scaled up version of the original app optimized for enterprise users. Tablets are great for presentations, however, so an iPad optimized version was essential for Idea Flight moving forward.
EMC Documentum is a sleek app that lets users access the Documentum ECM repository and CenterStage Spaces, start threads, review workflows and download content for offline viewing purposes, among other things.
Android
Seesmic CRM for Salesforce (beta)
Seesmic CRM is the company’s shot at the social enterprise software market. It’s essentially a Salesforce CRM client that also integrates with social networking including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and aggregates data from those streams. Seesmic developed the apps in collaboration with Salesforce’s mobile development team.
Quickoffice for Vivlio
Quickoffice announced last month that it the popular Office app will be pre-installed on Vivlio tablets, a Honeycomb-powered device designed for the Asian education market. The tablet was developed by Advanced Systems Research Technology Corporation or ASRTCorp.
